D'BANJ bags 4 nominations at the world music awards

D’banj gets international recognition.

D’banj has been nominated in four categories at the upcoming World Music Awards.
He is also set to perform at the event which will take place on December 22 in Miami, U.S.
The categories include, World Best Artiste, Best African Artiste, Best Song and Best Video.
However, D’banj is up against tough competition in each category. In the ‘World Best Artiste’ category, he was nominated alongside 72 other artistes including Justin Bieber, Jay Z and Chris Brown.

For some days now ,he’s been very calm ,so I figured he’s been doing a lot of thinking ,especially since the branch had a party for all the children of the staff members, well who wouldn’t ,6years without a child, not even a miscarriage…..not easy though, so I sent him an SMS “relax Jesus sees it all and he will do it at his own time, which of course is the best time’ (if una like call me SU sister……mstchww)  he replied…..’Thanks, I have just being deep in thoughts, thanks though’.

 Since the office will be closing on the 21^st December for Christmas break and Tobi’s introduction is on 22^nd in Lagos, I had to go talk to him to please grant me the permission to travel for Christmas/Tobi’s introduction  on 20^th ,so I walked into his office  and greeted but he was so deep in thought that he didn’t even notice someone entered ,not until I said ‘excuse me sir’, he told me to do a mail that he was going to approve  it.

KOFO: Sir, you need to take it easy .you didn’t even know I entered your office

MR DAVE OSITA:  Hmm! Kofo, my dad (Chief Jackson Osita) is an oil mogul and he’s about to hand over his company to any of his kids, I am the first son/child and by right it should be me, but I doubt it so much because I have been unable to give him a grandchild and I have tried so hard to build my career to this stage so as to be able to take over when the time comes, it bothers me so much, I feel like I am a complete failure.

KOFO: well, all the same you have to take it easy on yourself, because you have to be alive to take over the governance of your dad’s company,you’re not helping issues with the rate at which you’re thinking.

        some months ago news of the Nollywood actress’ pregnancy hit the media waves and that the man allegedly responsible – a former member of the National Assembly – has refused to accept the pregnancy.    

The person in question, Honorable Dino Melaye, happened to be one of the most vibrant lawmakers in the House of Representatives during his time at the National Assembly. Melaye also has a history of human rights activism and social work.

Therefore, the allegations of his impregnating an actress and then denying any such thing pose a significant threat to his reputation, especially if found to be true eventually. Dino Melaye is a married man, and his wife has taken his side in the controversy that surrounded the pregnancy story.

YOUTH CORPER GETS 8-MONTH JAIL TERM FOR INTERNET FRAUD.....

30-year-old Benneth Ibok, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), currently undertaking his one year compulsory service at Afikpo Local Government Council in Ebonyi State, has been sentenced to eight months imprisonment by a Lagos High Court in Ikeja for attempted internet fraud on Tuesday. The presiding judge, Justice Olabisi Akinlade convicted Benneth after he pleaded guilty to the offence on arraignment

it was gathered that on the advice of his counsel, Mrs I. Njoku, Benneth entered into a plead bargain agreement with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Akinlade said Benneth had no reason to be involved in internet fraud, emphasising that he should have thought of the consequences before his attempt.
She said, “At the age of 30, some of your age mates are married and already managers with serious responsibilities in some big companies, while you are still serving.”
“Now you have been convicted, which will be reflected in your record. You should have thought of the consequences before engaging in fraudulent activities.”
“You better go and change because if you go back to fraud, the EFCC will catch you again and the law will catch up with you.”
She noted that his sentence would commence from Aug.28 when he was arrested.
While explaining how Benneth was arrested and charged, EFCC counsel, Mrs Atinuke Daramola revealed that one Mr Sam Ohuabunwa petitioned the commission claiming that someone had hacked into his e-mail account.
She said, “The petitioner said the person started requesting for his mail contacts to send money into a certain Zenith Bank account no: 2080306452,
on his behalf”.
She said this information assisted the agency in their investigation at the bank, revealing that the bank account belongs to Benneth Ibok.
She said, “This led to his arrest at his residence located at Plot 2, Pilot Crescent off Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos.
“A search was conducted in his apartment and several forged documents relating to Union Bank Plc and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) were found in his possession.
“Other correspondence via e-mail to some foreigners, where he claimed to have won a fictitious European Winning Lottery Programme, were also found in his laptop.”
Daramola affirmed that his offences violated Sections 6, 8 (b) and 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, Laws of the Federation republic of Nigeria.
Benneth was charged by the EFCC on 10 counts charges relating to forgery and possession of fraudulent document.

TYLER PERRY SUED OVER PLOT OF 2012 FILM BY U.S AUTHOR

NEW YORK (Reuters) - An American author sued the prolific filmmaker Tyler Perry in a federal court on Tuesday, accusing him of lifting the plot of his 2012 movie, "Good Deeds," from her book.

Terri Donald, who also writes under the pseudonym TLO Red'ness, says Perry based the film on her 2007 book, "Bad Apples Can Be Good Fruit."

The lawsuit, filed in Philadelphia, says Donald sent a copy of her book to Perry's company before production on the movie began.

Donald is seeking $225,000 in initial damages as well as an injunction requiring the company to add a credit for her book in the opening and closing credits. The lawsuit also calls for the company to provide an accounting of the movie's revenues.

The drama, which stars Perry as a wealthy businessman who meets a struggling single mother, earned approximately $35 million at the box office after its February release.

Representatives for Perry and Lions Gate Entertainment, which released the film and is also named as a defendant in the lawsuit, did not respond to requests for comment on Tuesday.

Perry is best known for his portrayal in drag of the character Madea in several of his films.

NIGERIAN PRISON SERVICE GETS A NEW NAME

This followed the third reading and passage of “A Bill for an Act to repeal the Prisons Act Cap. P29 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 and enact the Nigerian Prisons and Correctional Service, to make comprehensive provisions for the administration of Prisons in Nigeria and for related purposes” by the Senate.

According to the Bill, the name change is “to underscore the humane aspect of the reform focus of prisons administrations and to conform to provisions in the international instrument.”
The lawmakers undertook a clause-by-clause consideration of the report of the Senate Committee on Interior after a motion moved by its Chairman, Abubakar Bagudu.
The Senate also approved a recommendation that deleted the words ‘hard labour’ and replaced it with ‘prison labour’.
The Senators noted that “hard labour” is an inheritance from colonial era and should be deleted and replaced with “prisons labour.”
The Bill also empowered the State Comptroller of Prisons to reject additional prisoners where the prison in question is already filled to capacity.
Section 6 (4, 5,6) states: “In the event that the prison has exceeded its maximum capacity, the State Comptroller shall notify the Chief Judge of the State or the State Criminal Justice Committee.
“Upon receipt of the notification the Chief Judge or the State Criminal Justice Committee shall within a period not exceeding one month take necessary steps to rectify the overcrowding.
“Without prejudice to subSection 4, the State Comptroller of Prisons in consultation with the Prison Superintendent shall have the power to reject more intake of prisoners where it is apparent that the prison in question is filled to capacity.”
Senate President David Mark hoped the Bill would bring the required changes to the prison system in the country.
He urged prison officials to ensure that prisoners do not become “more hardened” after serving their sentences but become better citizens.

It was tough to convince the customer to fix his money with our bank reasons been that our interest rate was low compared to other banks according to him. We finished all we had to do business wise  outside the branch at about 3.30pm,so my boss instructed the driver to drive down to southern fried chicken in wuse II so we could do lunch ,while eating he asked if i had taught about giving him a chance  and i told him ,there was nothing to think about ,he just smiled and said 'Kofo Daniels you know i can afford to treat you badly in that office and nothing,absolutely nothing will happen ' at this point i got really irritated and for the very first time i had to address him by his real name and not oga, and said 'Mr DAVE OSITA ,you are not God,if you treat me badly i wil simply leave the bank for you since it's your personal property'......for the next five minutes we just sat there looking at each other with alot of hatred,he managed to to finish his drink and stood up,all he could say was meet me in the car when you are done.
  Two days  later ,Tobi called to let me know she was going to the UK for a week (hmm seven boring days...#isokay),immediately i dropped the call with Tobi ,another call came in and it was that of Mr Osita(what in God's holy name have i done to this monkey )and then the conversation went thus;

MR OSITA:  Do you have plans for today?

KOFO:  (didn't have plans but i had to lie just to avoid him)errmmmm yes sir i do,i will be hanging out with my friend Tobi.

MR OSITA : Which Tobi,your friend that is always acting as your police?hahahahahaha,KOFO!!!i just saw Tobi at the international wing of the airport where i went to drop my wife who is on her way to southafrica,we exchanged pleasantries and she informed me she will be travelling to the UK in some hours time,so Kofo which Tobi are you talking about??????

He got there 5.30pm and called to know if i was anywhere in the building (silverbirds Abuja)and i told him i was just a few yards away ,i made it at about 5.40pm so we got popcorn and drinks after which we bought our tickets (whic he ofcourse paid for) he made sure we got the angle 90 seats (which made me understand he wanted alot of us space ...hmm)the movie started 6.15pm,very interesting movie i was amazed when i found  myself laughing so hard with Mr Osita,at a point the a\ACs were over doing themselves and he saw me folding my hands,so he gave me his jacket,i had a great time though,the movie ended 8pm,so while we were on our way to go drop me off ,he suddenly became very emotional and started telling me about himself,
   'Kofo i have been married for 6years now without a child , not even a miscarriage ......the heat from my family is getting so much and my wife is not helping issues,she nags alot and she is always at logger heads with my family members because they are putting alot of pressure on me to take another wife been the only son of  Chief Jackson Osita.....it's really been hard for me'

KOFO:  (HAVE NEVER REALLY SEEN HIM THIS EMOTIONAL) awww so sorry about that,but you both need to be prayerful and you in particular should stop chasing Kofo (lol),i have seen worse cases and yet at the end of the day,God still did it for the couple,they had kids,just wait for God's time.

MR OSITA:  yea,i am still believing God(at this point we were in front of my house)O Ok we are at your place now

KOFO:  yea....thanks i had a great time(and just as i was trying to open the door of the car) .....he said....no hugs???
  awww sorry ,so i hugged him ,but for a while he refused to let go of the hug(even when the hug expired....LMAO  yes hug de expire)when he finally did,he planted a kiss on my forehead (this made me remember my Yomi,he's the only one who does that)and i went away....

President Obama re-elected as US President

US President Barack Obama told cheering supporters early Wednesday that "the best is yet to come" for the United States as he stormed to a second term by defeating Republican Mitt Romney.
After taking the stage at a raucous Chicago victory party with wife Michelle and daughters Sasha and Malia, Obama returned to the themes of his re-election bid, vowing to fight for the middle class and the American dream.
"In this election, you, the American people, reminded us that while our road has been hard, while our journey has been long, we have picked ourselves up. We have fought our way back," Obama told hundreds of cheering supporters.
"We know in our hearts that for the United States of America the best is yet to come."
Obama said he had spoken to Romney, congratulating him and his running mate Paul Ryan on a "hard-fought campaign" and vowing to sit down with the former Massachusetts governor to discuss the way forward.
"We may have battled fiercely but it's only because we love this country deeply and we care so strongly about its future," Obama said.
"In the weeks ahead I also look forward to sitting down with governor Romney to talk about where we can work together to move this country forward."
Obama reached out to those who supported his opponent in the closely-fought race, saying: "Whether I earned your vote or not, I have listened to you. I have learned from you. You've made me a better president.

Stay in your village if you can't obey Lagos traffic law-----FASHOLA

The Lagos state governor, Babatunde Fashola has vowed to enforce the new traffic law and the existing environmental laws of the state to ensure the state remains environmentally-friendly.

The governor, who disclosed this on Tuesday after visiting some on-going projects sites, however warned visitors and those interested in coming to live in Lagos to keep abreast with the details of these laws so as not to break them.

Mr Fashola said the state government will not fold its arms while some residents live in Lagos as if they are living in their villages.

"You can't continue to live like you are in your village here in Lagos(YES KE ,EKO ONI BAJE). Life in Lagos is changing by the day. The government has spent fortune to ensure good environment, drainages, roads and transportation system. It is unfortunate some people are still living as if they are in their village.

"Please, if you can't obey our environmental and traffic laws, stay back in your village," the governor warned.

So I resumed work after the sallah break, this man has been very annoying ….where do I start from? His giving me work not meant for me, not approving my work, the query on why I resumed Tuesday(after I explained I wasn’t feeling fine) or his getting irritated over everything I do?....it’s actually been terrible ,but I have just been enduring all the shit!....I don’t need to be afraid like a friend would say FEAR could mean ‘forget everything and run  or  face everything and rise’, at the moment I KOFO DANIELS is ready to face everything and rise…….

   Meanwhile Chioma is been up and about with this her notice me stuff, yet this man has refused to look her way, if only he would just look her way, since she is willing (LOL)

  Today been November 5, 2012  a general mail was sent to all marketing staff about a new type of account the bank is introducing which is very good for people that travel out a lot  and every marketing staff is expected to open at least  10 before the end of November, the opening balance of this account is N250,000. #angryface so this people don’t even want to know if you are a corper  or not……..well they might have to pursue me at some point, because I don’t think I’m cut out for all these>>>>

   We held a meeting this morning and my Boss was emphasizing on the fact that he won’t take it likely with anyone who doesn’t meet up with his/her target (shuuuuuuu na by force,I be corper na),he afterwards said he has noticed some sort of lackadaisical approach to work from some member of staff, and that even the corpers are not exempted in this , especially KOFO DANIELS who thinks she can add a day to her holidays by claiming she wasn’t fine, and that he needs a medical report to that effect and that he hopes the reply to the query he gave me this morning…(this man is now angry because I insisted on travelling to see my YOMI….#ISOKAY)….About 30 minutes after the meeting he instructed the Business operations manager to make sure the salary for that day is deducted from my money by month end when salaries will be paid, the Business Operations manager (BSM) sent me a mail to that effect just to inform me……(hmm ,salary wey I don’t get plan for, God dey) as usual I called TOBI who advised I just keep calm about the whole thing, that everything would be fine(but when????) He just informed me that we would be seeing a new customer today (why would I want to go out for marketing with this devil?????),I am just praying this won’t be another round of *let’s do lunch together  stuff, I’m just going to keep a straight face*(EMI ORAYE NONSENSE)…..now on our way..

President Jonathan names Orubebe new power minister

President Goodluck Jonathan has appointed Godswill Orubebe as the new Power Minister.Reuben Abati, the president’s spokesman says...Mr Orubebe was former minister of the Niger Delta ministry.There was also a minor change to his cabinet The president swapped the Minister of State for Power, Gauis Dickson, with the Minister of State for Niger Delta, Zainab Kuchi.The change takes effect from next week, Abati, the president’s spokesman said.
The reason for this reshuffle is yet to be known.

Ocean surge may hit Lagos in 7 days.......#Hurricane Sandy

With the current situation in the US(hurricane Sandy)the Lagos State Government, yesterday alerted residents of a possible ripple effect of the hurricane such as ocean surge on the state’s coastal areas within the next seven days.
The alert was given by the state Commissioner for Waterfront and Infrastructure Development, Prince Segun Oniru; Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Lateef Ibirogba as well as Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Mr. Taofeek Folami, at a joint media briefing in Alausa, Ikeja.This might be terrible from all they said though,but we pray for God's mercies              However, a professor of climatology at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Professor RNC Anyadike, countered that Nigeria could not suffer any ripple effect from the hurricane.
Asked if Lagos could suffer ripple effects from Hurricane Sandy, Anyadike said: “It is not possible. We don’t have hurricanes in West Africa. “Meanwhile, Hurricane Sandy has already hit land, it will soon dissipate. What kind of ripple effect are they talking about? Do you know how far we are from New York?
“The only thing we are likely to experience is heavy rainfall occasioned by climate change not hurricane.”                                                                                                                                 Oniru attributed the likely ripple effect of the Hurricane to the location of Lagos, lying parallel to the South America region.
His words: “We want to let Lagosians know what is going on, and what to expect, it is not to create panic, they should be careful around the ocean and lagoon. In the last five to six days, around the Caribbean, from Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba and Hurricane Sandy has hit the east coast of America.
“Normally, when such happens, and the magnitude of it hits that part of the world, we always have a ripple effect in Lagos and around the West Coast..........We pray we don't experience this,meanwhile our prayers are with the Unted states of America,may God put an end to hurricanes generally not just #sandy alone.
