Ocean surge may hit Lagos in 7 days.......#Hurricane Sandy

With the current situation in the US(hurricane Sandy)the Lagos State Government, yesterday alerted residents of a possible ripple effect of the hurricane such as ocean surge on the state’s coastal areas within the next seven days.
The alert was given by the state Commissioner for Waterfront and Infrastructure Development, Prince Segun Oniru; Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Lateef Ibirogba as well as Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Mr. Taofeek Folami, at a joint media briefing in Alausa, Ikeja. This might be terrible from all they said though, but we pray for God's mercies              However, a professor of climatology at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Professor RNC Anyadike, countered that Nigeria could not suffer any ripple effect from the hurricane.
Asked if Lagos could suffer ripple effects from Hurricane Sandy, Anyadike said: “It is not possible. We don’t have hurricanes in West Africa. “Meanwhile, Hurricane Sandy has already hit land, it will soon dissipate. What kind of ripple effect are they talking about? Do you know how far we are from New York?
“The only thing we are likely to experience is heavy rainfall occasioned by climate change not hurricane.”                                                                                                                                 Oniru attributed the likely ripple effect of the Hurricane to the location of Lagos, lying parallel to the South America region.
His words: “We want to let Lagosians know what is going on, and what to expect, it is not to create panic, they should be careful around the ocean and lagoon. In the last five to six days, around the Caribbean, from Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba and Hurricane Sandy has hit the east coast of America.
“Normally, when such happens, and the magnitude of it hits that part of the world, we always have a ripple effect in Lagos and around the West Coast..........We pray we don't experience this, meanwhile our prayers are with the Unted states of America, may God put an end to hurricanes generally not just #sandy alone.

The WILLIAMS sisters arrive lagos

The Williams sisters have said that their visit to Lagos, as part of a two-nation tour that will see them play exhibition matches and train kids, was to promote women’s rights.

Their trip is aimed at promoting “the role that women play in shifting perceptions and encouraging development at all levels across the African continent,” said a statement from the Breaking The Mould initiative they are representing.

Serena, 31, and Venus, 32, are to meet the Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos state, hold a tennis clinic at the Ikoyi Club, visit a puberty education class for girls and play an exhibition match before heading to South Africa on November 2.
“They are coming to Lagos to encourage more women to break moulds that have stood between them and their potentials,” the statement said.
Worldwide, Nigeria ranks 118 out of 134 countries on the Gender Equality Index, a British Council study released in May said.
Always backs Williams Sisters tour
Always, a brand of Procter & Gamble Nigeria, is supporting the visiting Williams Sisters to empower women and young girls to believe in themselves in a bid to achieve their full potential in life.
On 1 November 2012, the duo will partner with feminine hygiene brand Always for a joint girls empowerment event at the Government Secondary School in Osborne, Ikoyi.

Together, Always and the Williams sisters aim to empower girls and inspire them to live their life to the fullest by: stressing the idea of sisterhood and that girls teaming up and supporting each other may achieve great things; teaching young girls the value of hard work, passion, determination and self-belief and leading by best example that neither colour or gender shall be reason enough to hold girls back and keep them from wanting the best in life and succeed.

The William sisters will attend an Always puberty education class and talk to the girls before performing with the schoolgirls the Always song “Little Big Steps” to empower them through a shared singing and dancing experience.
Their visit will also help raise awareness of the Always School Care Programme that has helped empower millions of girls in Nigeria and across the globe by educating them on proper feminine hygiene and puberty over the last 12 years. Last year alone, the programme positively impacted 1.5 million girls across Africa.

Halle Berry's Hot Body Secrets Revealed!

She keeps getting hotter even at age 46,the Cloud Atlas actress and mom to 4-year-old Nahla still has one of the most enviable bodies in Hollywood.Halle's body looks 10 years younger, infact she's an inspiration (to me)take a look at the star's taut tummy and long, lean legs....wow.......Some of that, of course, is just good genes. Berry also works hard for her body. The busy actress sweats it out with the pro four days a week in hour long sessions that include squats, leg raises, lunges, and push ups.
Recently, the hot bride-to-be -- she and French actor Olivier Martinez announced their engagement in April -- has also been boosting her routine with a combination of cardio and weights.
"For the past two and a half months, she's been doing very intense, 30-minute cross-training workouts to shock her body,waoh....quite amazing!!!
health starts from the inside out, so to fuel up between sweat sessions and keep her metabolism in check, Berry chows down on five small meals a day -- often salads, fish, and soups.
"Cardio is important but nutrition is key," Bardonnet advised.(her pro) "To look like [Halle], cut sugar, flour, and cheese to twice a week."
