NUC Suspends Licenses of Madonna University, Lead City University & 5 Others

The National Universities Commission, the regulatory body governing the activities of all Universities in Nigeria has again made some startling changes.
Just days after suspending all Part-time programmes being run by Universities, the NUC has suspended the operational licences of seven private universities for violating its guidelines in physical facilities and academic programmes.
The affected universities are Achievers University, Owo; Caritas University, Enugu; Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Osun; Lead City University, Ibadan; Madonna University, Okija; Obong University, Obong and Tansian University, Umunya.
NUC spokesman, Mallam Ibrahim Yakassai, confirmed this in a phone chat last night.
The decision to suspend the operational licences of the affected universities was due to their non-compliance with the regulations guiding the operations of universities in the country as stipulated by the NUC.
“The operators of the universities affected know their offences because so many times, we have informed them about their failings but they did not take necessary steps to address their shortcomings. Anyway, It’s just a suspension and it will be lifted as soon as they do the correct things,” he said.
This according to NUC implies they can’t admit new students nor continue lectures for old students until further notice.

Father and daughter!!!

Jesus is Lord!!!! Wonders they say shall never end!!!

A 45-year-old woman has caught her husband having sex with their only daughter who is 15 years old. The husband, 51, resides with his wife and their daughter at Ayobo, Ipaja, Lagos.

A reliable source revealed to us that the girl’s mother who is a trader at Oshodi, on the fateful day, went to Festac Town but had to return home because she was... not feeling well.

According to the source, the woman, on getting home, met her husband and their daughter on their matrimonial bed having sex and the man sucking her breasts. The girl’s mother was said to have raised an alarm which attracted neighbours and passersby, as a result, the man, said to be from the South East, left the daughter.

The woman cried bitterly, saying “am going to move out of this house with my daugher because it is a taboo, and in the future people will tell the story even to the person who may want to marry her.”

When the man was confronted, he pleaded that he be forgiven, claiming that it was the handiwork of the devil. The girl wept profusely and refused to speak when people sought to hear her side of the story.

NigerianEye: Otedola sues Tambuwal, Lawan, others for N250bn

NigerianEye: Otedola sues Tambuwal, Lawan, others for N250bn
The $620,000 bribery scandal involving a federal legislator, Farouk Lawan and businessman, Femi Otedola, has entered a new phase with Otedola asking a court to order Lawan and three others to pay him N250bn in damages.

The suit coincides with petitions to the Inspector-General of Police by Lawan’s lawyers demanding a face-to-face confrontation between the lawmaker and the businessman.
The amount, Otedola says, will compensate him for the loss of patronage he has suffered as a result of an alleged intimidation by the National Assembly.
Listed as defendants in the suit number FCT /3839/2012 and filed on June 28, 2012 at the Abuja High Court, are Lawan, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal; the National Assembly and its Clerk.
There had been a raging scandal in which Otedola, who is the Chairman of Zenon Oil and Gas Limited, claimed that he paid $620,000 as bribe to Lawan, the suspended Chairman of the House Ad hoc Committee that probed the management of fuel subsidy regime in the country.
While Otedola said that he paid the bribe under pressure, Lawan claimed that he obtained the bribe in order to expose the businessman.
The businessman’s company which had been removed from the list of subsidy thieves on the request of Lawan has, however, been re-listed by the House following the outbreak of the bribery scandal.
Otedola, who is suing along with Zenon as the first plaintiff, said in his 28-paragraph statement of claim that the re-listing of Zenon on the list of indicted companies was an act of conspiracy.
He claimed that the alleged conspiracy by both Tambuwal and the National Assembly was calculated to embarrass him and his company.
In his statement of claim, Otedola states, “Notwithstanding the on-going Police investigations and the first defendant’s admission of receiving money from the second plaintiff, the second and fourth defendants conspired to relist the name of the first plaintiff to the list of indicted companies, to embarrass the plaintiffs and their corporate and business image.
“The plaintiffs shall contend at trial that the conspiracy by the second and fourth defendants (Tambuwal and the National Assembly respectively) to re-list the name of the first plaintiff on the list of companies indicted by the ad-hoc committee is without basis given that the committee’s finding was arrived at without proper verification of documents submitted by the plaintiffs to aid their enquiry.”
Otedola narrated how Lawan allegedly demanded $3m bribe in the course of the committee’s investigation and how he made several other intimidating calls that Zenon would be included on the list of indicted companies if he failed to comply.
He said the lawmaker did not relent in his demand for the bribe despite telling him that there was no basis for Zenon to be indicted by the committee.
He added that he later took to the advice of some unnamed security agencies which asked him to play along with Lawan.
He states further, “In the course of carrying out his assignment, the first defendant (Lawan) as head of the ad hoc committee set up by the second and third defendants contacted the second plaintiff (Otedola) and informed him that the first plaintiff ( Zenon) was going to be indicted by the ad hoc committee for purchasing foreign exchange from the Central Bank of Nigeria without importing petroleum products unless the plaintiff parted with a bribe of $3m.
“The first defendant continued to make harassing phone calls to the second plaintiff calculated at intimidating the plaintiffs to meet the unlawful demand of the first defendant for bribe
“The second plaintiff faced with the first defendant’s unrelenting barrage of intimidating calls became distressed and contacted the security agencies to report the first defendant’s conduct
“The plaintiffs were advised by the security agencies to play along and hand over marked notes to the first defendant and his cohorts for the purpose of gathering evidence of their nefarious activities.”
In the purported sting operation, Otedola states that out of the $620,000 bribe, $500,000 was taken personally by Lawan on April 24, and that $120,000 was handed over to the clerk of the committee, Boniface Emenalo.
He also says that he would produce “all call logs and audio-visual records of conversation and/or meetings” held with Lawan to prove his case.
He states, “On April 24, 2012, the sum of $500,00 was handed over to the first defendant by the second plaintiff.
“At the request of the first defendant, a further sum of $120, 000 was handed over to Boniface Emenalo by the second defendant.
“On the morning of the April 24, 2012, the first defendant persisted in making intimidating phone calls to the plaintiffs harassing them to pay up the balance of $2.380m.
“As a result of the distress caused to the plaintiffs by the first defendant’s persistent calls, the plaintiffs reported the matter to the police which invited the first defendant and the plaintiffs for investigations.”
Otedola, dissatisfied with the reappearance of Zenon on the list of indicted companies, has therefore made the claims against the defendants “jointly and severally”,
“The sum of N100 billion against the defendants as general damages for the acts of intimidation; loss of goodwill and patronage, occasioned by the acts of the defendants; and a separate “sum of N150 billion against the defendants as exemplary damages for their oppressive and arbitrary action.”
He states, “The action and conduct of the defendants were oppressive and arbitrary and thereby also resulting to the plaintiffs suffering substantial loss to their reputation, goodwill and business.”
Hearing date has not been fixed for the case and it has not been assigned to any judge.
In a reaction on Sunday, the House said that it was ready for Otedola and would assemble a legal team to meet him in court.
However, it clarified that no court summons had been served on it as at Sunday (yesterday).
The Chairman, House Committee on Media, Public Affairs, Mr. Zakari Mohammed, noted that as a Nigerian, Otedola was free to express his views or take action on any issues he strongly disapproves of.
“He is free to go to court; he is a Nigerian. We are ready for him and he will hear from us when we receive accourt summons.
“However, as we speak, I am not aware of any court action taken against the House. This is weekend; but he will hear from us when we get the summons”, Mohammed added.

Blood test to diagnose early stage of breast cancer

A simple blood test is enough to diagnose breast cancer at the early stage. That is the submission of a study conducted recently to foster better diagnosis and early treatment for breast cancer patients.

A group of scientists led by Anthony Lucci, University of Texas, United States, US, has found that routine blood tests can quickly unmask tumour cells in patients, thereby increasing the chances of early treatment and reducing fatalities. Lucci and his team found out that if circulating tumour cells, CTCs, can be found in the blood of patients at an early stage of the disease. The findings have been published in The Lancet Oncology.

The researchers, all from the Department of Surgical Oncology, got about 300 patients with operable breast cancer and identified CTCs in the blood sample of a quarter of the study group. They found that the presence of the CTCs in the blood stream could determine if the patient would progress to end stage and even the overall survival of the patient.

“These studies identified that both progression-free and overall survival were worse in patients with one or more circulating tumour cells. The growing body of published work, including our study, suggests that assessment of circulating tumour cells might provide important prognostic information in these patients. If the presence of circulating tumour cells were to contribute independently to the currently available prognostic factors, this information might be useful in disease staging and in identifying patients who might benefit from additional therapies,” he said.

With consolidating studies, Lucci and his team hopes that CTC assessment would be included by world health authorities in guidelines for the care of cancer patients

WHY I CHOOSE YOU

For what reasons should people marry????
Should one marry a man because he is handsome or a woman because she is beautiful? What happens when such a person becomes old, will one still be in love with the other party?
Should one marry because you are so in love with the other party? If you agree with me ,it is most times difficult to differentiate between love and lust.......so how then does one know it is love and not lust?
Should one marry because you know the other party has a good job and is able to sustain you and provide adequately for your family? What happens when the job is gone? Will you still be able to look at your partners eyes and say "Honey i will stay for better or worse,we are in this together"?
   People marry these days for very trivial reasons;
You hear alot of  funny reasons ,A man will say 'i love her thats why i want to marry her' and when asked by the marriage counsellor for reasons why he feels this woman is the best option for him as a wife,he starts by saying ,"She is lovely, beautiful e.t.c.....forgetting that all these are temporary.
Personally what i think is most important to consider before any marriage is ***COMPATIBILTY****
When you both are compatible,it means you share the same ideologies, values e.t.c.It means their is a perfect understanding between you two,i mean the understanding is so great as to the fact that you both can predict each other's actions over alot of circumstances.
There are alot of broken homes today because so many couples didnt consider compatibility before marriage,so to keep our homes from gossips and the shackles of evil that has led so marriages to doom these days ,we all have to consider compatibility.
LOVE is just there to sustain you both as couples ,but when you both are compatible ,you are able to live another and tolerate each other........
  GOD BLESS OUR HOMES!!!.

"PERFECT ONE"

In life generally, we all seek perfection:whether in career or business or as it may apply to different individuals, but we never ask ourselves this question"What effort am i making towards such a level of perfection that i seek"?.
Whenever you come across a  young lady, and you ask her what sort of a man she desires in life as a partner ,she will probably give you the following qualities :He has to be tall, dark(not too dark)like chocolate kind of,have six packs, has a good job thats pays well enough for him not to complain that i"m extravagant when i ask for cash, rides a good car, lives alone in a cute apartment(because i won"t tolerate intruders like mother/sister_inlaws),cute enough for me to flaunt in public and so on............... i mean the list is endless. Who in God"s name has seen a man with all these qualities,LADIES!!! you can"t find all of these in one person.
On the other hand , a young man will tell you ,he wants his wife to be very beautiful, have the necessary curves in the right places, not fat(some would even tell you she has to be size 8 or 10,should have a degree but won"t work because she has to stay home with the kids, very obedient, honest, well spoken, neat and tidy,be ready to take his orders, look very sexy and hot even afte five kids, very economical with his hard earned cash, cook like a five star hotel chef, and it goes on....................the list is endless!
Have we ever considered the fact that in both Men and Women,we cannot find all these qualities in one person? Their is no perfect man or woman out there",LOVE is all about loving the imperfect person perfectly", do not be decieved, no such thing as a perfect man or woman exist!
Once knew a man who got married to a woman who only knows how to boil "white rice", he knew her weakness and yet agreed to marry her because he believed that ,she would learn and become good at it someday, this happened in an african society where cooking for any man is vehemently taken as one of the criterias of choosing a wife!.For God sakes you have to know how to cook, how do you explain to your inlaws, that their son or brother will be doing Nandos,Mr Biggs or SFC for the rest of his life or gets a cook? But this man took a bold step for the love he had for her and went ahead to marry her and then engaged her in a cooking school, where she goes to daily to learn how to cook, she attended this school for a while and then got  very good at cooking. Today the husband is very proud of her cooking.
Tell me, if the man had refused to marry her just because she didn"t know how to cook, would she have learnt? would she have been the type of woman he wanted her to be?
Therefore brethen ,that Man/Woman can be who you want him/her to be if only you begin to love the imperfect him/her perfectly.
"GIVE THIS A THOUGHT TODAY" for as imperfect as we are Christ loved us all perfectly!!!..................................
